Fuss and Cuss
One of the newest activities for this year's convention is the Fuss and Cuss. The fitness activity will occur from Thursday thru Saturday during the convention. Well what is it, you ask? the Fuss and Cuss is a fitness walk with the added incentive of certificates for all entrants and a drawing for a prize, which is a printer. Registration begins on Wednesday. Net proceeds will be donated to the OMIK Scholarship Fund by Call Area 10, which is sponsoring the activity.

ARRL Seeks Member Support for HR 2160
The Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Enhancement Act of 2009 -- the ARRL is asking its membership to contact their members of the US House of Representatives with a request to become co-sponsors of this significant piece of legislation. --more--
Tim Sonnier appointed OMIK vice president
OMIK President Cornelius Washington, KR0Z, announced that Tim Sonnier, N5RKK, has been appointed vice president of OMIK. Tim will work closely with area directors and be a liaison to help promote effective communications in the organization.
Sonnier is a former director of call area 5 and he recently got married his sweetheart, Glenda. He said that Glenda is a "believer" in OMIK and she said that they will be at the convention in Birmingham. Please go to the OMIK news page to see photos from Tim and Glenda's wedding.
